A “closed” meeting is one in which the attendance is limited to those who are struggling with a specific addiction issue. However, alcoholism and drug addiction would fall under our open meetings.
For example a closed Gambling addiction meeting or Pornography addiction meeting would be limited to people who struggle with those specific issues.
This “closed” venue provides individuals with a safe and secure place to share openly and honestly, where the focus of discussion is geared to address that specific issue. Therefore, this meeting would not be the appropriate venue to talk about other issues.
Below are a few examples of closed meetings you might find within the recovery world.
- Gambling
- Eating Disorders
- Co-Dependency
- Pornography Addiction
